Nestled away in the old city stables of Scott's Addition lies a charming urban cidery, the perfect setting for music on a spring evening. On Thursday, April 13, musicians of Classical Revolution RVA will perform a string quartet by Franz Joseph Haydn while listeners enjoy a flight of four ciders--one for each movement of the quartet!
Haydn, an 18th century Austrian composer, wrote several string quartets which set the standard for every composer who came after him, including a young Mozart, who dedicated a set of quartets to "Papa Haydn". His name (pronounced HIGH-din) has given rise to countless puns.*
Free admission. Non-alcoholic cider also availabie.
PERFORMERS:
Ellen Cockerham Riccio, violin
Adrian Pintea, violin
HyoJoo Uh, viola
Schuyler Slack, cello
PROGRAM:
Haydn String Quartet in E-flat major, op. 20 no. 1
*If you would fully expect to hear a Haydn string quartet in an urban cidery and find nothing surprising about this whatsoever...you might be from Richmond.
