CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN 9 am - Jefferson Park - Yoga with Mozart

Finding the Silence Between the Notes and the Stillness Within the Movement

Tom Harris (RYT 200) will guide attendees through a slow-flowing Hatha Yoga practice including physical poses (asanas), hand gestures (mudras), and breathing techniques (pranayama) while the music of Mozart underscores each yogi's personal journey. Yoga is for everybody and Yogis at all levels are encouraged to participate in this practice.

Tom received his 200HR certification (Yoga, Mindfulness, SEL) through Breathe for Change (RYS200/300) and continues training through Om Yoga Flow (RYS, YACEP).

10 am to 1:15 pm - Bellevue Elementary School (2301 E Grace St) - Wolfie Time children's event

10:30 am to 12:45 pm: sample our instrument petting zoo, make your own conductor’s baton, compose and conduct your own musical composition, and take a Mozart selfie! Complete all activities for a prize.

12:45 pm to 1:15 pm: a special performance by the Sweet Potatoes!

Dr. Allison Smith and opera singer Pam Buie share creative and academic perspectives on the portrayal of Mozart's Black characters. Join us as we explore how to approach Mozart's operas on the contemporary stage!

Dr. Jeremy Hoffman discusses climate change in Austria since Mozart’s time!

3 pm - Align (2509 E Broad St) - Music in the Time of Mozart

Dr. Andy McGraw discusses the differences between Western European music and Eastern music during Mozart’s time!

4 pm - Align (2509 E Broad St) - Wood & Gut: Mozart’s Instruments

RVA Baroque performs dance music and a flute quartet by Mozart!

5 pm - St. John's Graveyard (2401 E Broad St) [rain location: Align (2509 E Broad St)] - Beer in the Time of Mozart

Enjoy Garden Grove’s special Mozart schwarzbier and learn about the types of beer that would have been available in Mozart’s time!

6 pm - St. John's Sanctuary (2401 E Broad St) - The Main Course

A choral and orchestral performance with One Voice Chorus Chorale and the Orchestra of the Revolution!

7 pm to 10 pm - Poe Museum (1914 E Main St) - After Party

A ticketed event with Ceili Galante, Gold Rush, and Yeni Nostalji!
