Festival Schedule of Events

11am to 1pm - Eine Kleine Brunch Musik  

View Program

Drop by Saadia’s Juicebox or Max’s on Broad to hear a rotating cast of string quartets and other chamber music between 11am and 1pm. A real upright piano, provided by Rhapsody Piano, will be featured at Max’s.*

1pm - Wolfgang 101 at Big Secret

Come hear Dr. Erin Freeman give an informative talk about the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, complete with live musical examples. Sponsored by VCU Music.


2pm - Richmond Cello Orchestra at 1708 Gallery

View Program

A group of about 15 cellists play arrangements of Mozart’s music, under the direction of Michael Knowles. Sponsored by Four Strings.


12-3 Family Event at Gallery5

12 - Crafts and Activities. The fun begins at noon. Come make Mozart finger puppets and carrot flutes, explore the instrument petting zoo, and take a Wolfie Selfie!

1 - Musical Storytime! Did you know that Mozart started composing at the age of 5? Or that he had a sister named Nannerl? Come find out what little Wolfie was doing when he was your age! — View Program

2 - Student Recital and Twinkle Play-in. Young musicians will perform works by Mozart, including his Symphony No. 25, which is featured in the film “Amadeus”. Violin students from all over the city, including a group of second-graders from St. Andrew’s School, will perform Mozart’s Variations on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Then, follow a group of middle school band students from Gloucester Middle School as they lead you down the sidewalk to Charm School in a Mozart Parade! — View Program


3pm - Opera Scenes at Charm School Social Club

Enjoy an ice cream cone while the University of Richmond’s vocal studio presents a selection of opera scenes from The Marriage of Figaro, and other beloved operas! Sponsored by University of Richmond Music Department.


4pm - Bastien and Bastienna at Coalition Theater

View Program

Capitol Opera will perform a complete comic opera, Bastien and Bastienna, at Coalition Theater! The opera, which Mozart composed when he was only 12 years old, will be performed in English.


5pm - Symphonies and the Requiem at Candela Gallery

View Program

Chia-Hsuan Lin, the Richmond Symphony’s associate conductor, will lead a full orchestra in reading Mozart symphonies. Adrian Pintea and HyoJoo Uh, also of the RSO, will be featured in Sinfonia Concertante, Mozart’s concerto for violin and viola. Then, a chorus will join the orchestra for selections from the Requiem. 7pm - Mozart's Greatest Hits! Arias with full orchestral accompaniment at Atlas Gallery

Singers, dressed to the nines, will perform operatic arias with full orchestral accompaniment under the direction of Anthony Smith.
