Featured Programs for 2018

Thanks to your generous donations during our Birthday Week celebration, we have an exciting line up of events planned for 2018. Here are some highlights, but additional details will be coming throughout the year.


Schuyler Slack, cello and Ieva Jokubaviciute, piano at Candela Gallery
Schuyler and Ieva will perform the world premiere of Douglas Boyce’s Perpetuo Stretto, as well as works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Kodály.


A cross-pollination of genres, the Pairs series presents classical music alongside another style altogether. This guitar-centered evening will feature a live performance of Andrew McEvoy's new album "Parlor Tricks," and a set of gypsy jazz presented by Django Tango.

Classical Incarnations
Our longest running series, this classical variety show features musicians performing solos, duos, trios, and other chamber music in a bar.


March Mindfulness
At noon on every Wednesday in March, a solo musician performs works by J.S. Bach in a downtown art gallery to an audience whose minds have been quieted with a guided meditation.


The 5th Annual Mozart Festival
This day-long festival celebrates the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart by bringing live performances of his symphonies, operas, and chamber music into Richmond’s bars, restaurants and galleries.

Haydn Where You Least Expect It
This series brings the music of Franz Joseph Haydn to unexpected places.  Listeners are drawn into the music through thoughtful cider pairings, personal stories from the performers, or insight into the composition itself.

Classical Revolution RVA Presents the Fourth Annual Mozart Festival in Richmond, Va.

Mozart Festival 2017 in Richmond, VA - Sunday April 23rd - 11:00am to 9:00pm - In various Jackson Ward establishments - Free to the public.

The 4th annual Mozart Festival will take place on Sunday April 23rd in the arts and culture district in the Jackson Ward neighborhood. For this year’s festival Classical Revolution RVA will provide a chance for Richmond, VA’s classical community to take over the shops, bars, restaurants, and venues for a day-long festival which is free to the public. This year’s festival will feature a variety of ways to celebrate the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart while also enjoying the foods, drinks, and settings of this iconic arts district. 

Over 100 musicians will descend upon the Mozart Festival to provide audience goers with unique options for soaking in the legendary music of Mozart. The day’s programing will involve music for Sunday brunch, an arts and crafts event for families and children, a Mozart parade for the younger Mozart fans, excerpts from classic Mozart operas, an informative talk on the composer’s works, a performance by a cello orchestra, a full orchestral performance, an evening arias performance, and more! 

This year’s Mozart Festival will also allow Richmond audiences to experience some of the region’s most established classical musicians.  Dr. Erin FreemanVCU Choral Director, will be on hand to give an informative presentation on the life and work of Mozart with live musical examples at Big Secret. Chia-Hsuan Lin, the Richmond Symphony’s associate conductor, will lead a full orchestra performing Mozart symphonies at Candella Gallery. Adrian Pintea and HyoJoo Uh, also of the Richmond Symphony, will be featured in Sinfonia Concertante, Mozart’s concerto for violin and viola. 

Classical Revolution RVA is a 501 (c)(3) non profit performing arts organization devoted to bringing classical music to the masses in Richmond, VA. This festival furthers Classical Revolution RVA’s mission to make more music and to integrate classical music with Richmond’s vibrant music scene by taking it into local bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries–places people are already going to hear live music. On Sunday April 23rd Classical Revolution RVA will be providing Richmond with an opportunity to explore Mozart’s classics in a casual environment from 11am to 9pm
